Registration and payment for conference attendance without research presentation (audience only) will be accepted until the conference (March 18 (Wed) 17:00). However, online registration and payment are required. On-site registration and payment are not possible.

Eligibility

Attendance

  • Both JFS members and non-members may attend the meeting.
  • All attendees, including invited speakers, must pay registration fees in advance.
  • The public symposium is free of charge.

Presentations

  • Only JFS members may present.
  • Non-members who are planning to present must pay membership and registration fees before the conference. A JFS member ID will be provided as soon as payment is confirmed by the administrative office.Click here to join.
  • Non JFS members cannot present, aside from speakers invited to present at the planning symposia.
  • Presentations must be delivered by the first author. Other authors cannot present on behalf of the first author.
  • Aside from the awards lecture, presenters may only be the first author of a single presentation.

Presentation outline

  • Research presentations will be divided into section presentations, planning symposia, and open sessions.
  • Presentation formats include oral presentations and poster presentations.
  • Section presentations comprise 14 regular divisions.
  • Planning symposia are symposia with clear and concise themes related to forest science. Presenters are selected by the coordinator; there is no open call for presentations. Only those invited to present by the coordinator should apply to present their research at the relevant symposium.
  • Sessions are designed to facilitate ongoing research exchange among members on themes not covered by the existing regular divisions. Some sessions include poster presentations. Presenters are selected through open calls.
  • Presenters may generally choose whether to present in a regular division or an open call session, though the Program Committee may make adjustments.
  • Research presentations must be based on research findings in forest science, with results and conclusions available by the abstract deadline (Tuesday, January 13, 2026).

Presenter instructions

(1) Oral Presentations (Section-Specific & Open Call Sessions)

  • Oral presentations will be delivered in person at the venue. There will be no simultaneous online streaming or on-demand post-event distribution. Each presenter will be allotted 15 minutes (12 minutes for the presentation and 3 minutes for questions).
  • Presentation Method: Presenters will speak while operating presentation materials (PowerPoint/PDF files) stored on a Windows PC provided at the venue. This will be followed by a Q&A session moderated by the session chair. Presenters must copy their presentation files to the venue PC themselves on the day of the presentation. Presenters cannot use their own devices for presentations.
  • Coordinated Discussion: Time for coordination and discussion will be scheduled after several presentations. For open sessions, additional time for purpose explanations and comprehensive discussions may be added at the coordinator’s discretion.

(2) Poster Presentations (Section-Specific & Open Sessions)

  • Poster presentations will combine online display with on-site display. Online display is mandatory, while on-site display is optional. Sufficient space will be provided to accommodate all participants who wish to display on-site. Note that online display alone will be recognized as a presentation achievement (see details below). However, note that judging for student posters will occur at the on-site venue. Therefore, those applying for the Student Poster Award must display their posters on-site and participate in in-person Q&A sessions.
  • 【Display and Presentation Method via the Claris Online Platform】
  • File Submission: Please submit your poster file for online display in advance. The file format must be PDF (A4 portrait: single page only), with a file size under 20MB. Audio-enabled video files cannot be used.
  • Presentation Method: The submitted poster file will be displayed on the conference’s online platform, Claris. During the conference period, participants can view it on-demand.
  • Q&A: Chat-based Q&A will be available during the display period.
  • 【Display and Presentation Method at the In-Person Venue】
  • Presentation Method: At the in-person venue, posters will be affixed to panels set up in the venue. Presenters will respond to questions as appropriate. Core time is 13:00–14:00.
  • Poster Size: Posters displayed on-site must be A0 size, portrait orientation (width 841 mm × height 1189 mm).
  • 【Important】All poster presentations at this conference will be made publicly available online to conference participants (withdrawal of online viewing posters is not permitted). Please understand this point before submitting your presentation application.
  • 【Important】Please note that even if a poster is displayed at the physical venue, it will not count as an official presentation for this conference unless the poster file is uploaded to the conference online platform, Claris.

(3) Planning symposia

  • Presentation time, method, etc.: Within a maximum timeframe of 3 hours, the coordinator is responsible for managing the session. Presenters should follow the coordinator’s instructions.

Registration

Registration and fee payment can be completed via the meeting-registration system.

Members who plan to present must apply via this system at the time of registration.

Non-presenting attendees must register and pay the registration fee in advance via the system. The deadline for early bird registration is January 31, 2026. Undergraduate students who will not give presentations may attend free of charge but still need to register.

  • JFS members must provide their JFS ID upon registration. See Eligibility.
  • Registration fees may be paid by credit card (strongly recommended) or by postal transfer. Presenters should complete their payment by 23:59 on November 14, 2025. If payment has been confirmed by the administrative office until the abstract submission deadline (January 13, 2026; see Submitting and viewing abstracts), abstracts will not be accepted. Other attendees should complete their payment by 23:59 on March 18, 2026.
  • Only payment by credit card will be accepted after 17:00 on February 20, 2026.

  • Issuance of a receipt may be requested through the registration system.
  • Registration fees are non-refundable.

Applying to present

Members may apply to present through the registration system. The application deadline is 23:59 on November 14, 2025.

Applications to present will be cancelled in the event that payment of registration fees is not confirmed by the administrative office.

Submitting and viewing abstracts

  • Abstracts must be submitted by 23:59 on January 13, 2026, via the registration system. Abstracts cannot be submitted until payment of the registration fees has been confirmed by the administrative office.
  • The body of the abstract may be up to 1000 bytes, including special characters (italics, subscripts and superscripts, Greek letters and so on such as “<i>” and “</i>”). Note that length limits are not based on word count. Figures and photographs are not accepted.
  • A PDF compilation of all abstracts will be available for download from this page approximately 1 month before the meeting.
  • At the same time, a system for searching presentations will also be opened.

Student Poster Awards

The Japan Forestry Society Student Poster Award is presented to student members who deliver outstanding poster presentations at the Japan Forestry Society Annual Meeting, with the aim of encouraging their research. Student registrants who are first authors of posters may apply for Student Poster Awards at the time of registration.

Judging for the Student Poster Award will be based on the posters displayed at the in-person venue and the Q&A session held there. The Q&A session during the core time on March 17 (13:00–14:00) will be the basis for judging. Absence during the core time on March 17 will result in disqualification. Applicants must attend.
