| 要旨本文 | Urban shrine forests are long-preserved woodland remnants in fragmented city landscapes. We analyzed vegetation data from four forests differing in size and isolation to assess changes in composition and structure. Stem density and basal area shifted, showing ongoing structural change rather than stable late-successional conditions. Despite long-term protection, typical lucidophyllous species remained rare, and regeneration of late-successional components was limited. Species richness, diversity, and functional composition varied, with evergreen, animal-dispersed species most common. nMDS revealed distinct, site-specific successional pathways: some forests progressed toward late-successional structure, while others simplified, increasingly dominated by exotic or ornamental species. These patterns suggest isolation, edge effects, and limited regeneration shape urban forest communities, highlighting persistent conservation challenges even in long-protected forests. |
