| 要旨本文 | Increasing drought intensity and frequency under climate change threaten forest productivity, heightening demand for drought-tolerant tree genotypes. Cryptomeria japonica shows substantial intraspecific variation in drought responses, but underlying mechanisms remain unclear. We evaluated drought responses of leaf photosynthetic and related traits across 80 genotypes from Tohoku to Kyushu in a greenhouse experiment. One-year-old cuttings were grown under well-watered (control) or drought-stress conditions. After 14_16 days without irrigation, we measured net photosynthesis, stomatal and cuticular conductance, and water-use efficiency. Drought reduced photosynthesis and stomatal conductance while increasing water-use efficiency. Mixed-model analyses revealed significant genetic variation and high heritability, indicating strong potential to improve drought tolerance in Cryptomeria japonica. |
