| 発表題目 | Analysis of Forest Cover Change Detection in Central Malawi Analysis of Forest Cover Change Detection in Central Malawi |

| 要旨本文 | Fores cover change detection analysis between 2013 and 2024 was conducted in central Malawi using geographic information system and Remote sensing technology which eases forest monitoring. The study aimed at mapping and examining structural changes in forest cover for the last 11 years. Landsat images 8/9 Operational Land Imager (OLI) datasets were acquired from Google Earth Engine through the United States Geological Survey (USGS). Using supervised classification, images of 2013 and 2024 were classified and labelled individually. Changes were detected through post-classification comparison (PCC) and NDVI calculations in ArcGIS Pro. Kappa’s Coefficients of 0.78 and 0.76 and for the study years 2013 and 2024 respectively was recorded. Drivers of forest cover change published recently indicate four main drivers namely, over-dependence on Wood Fuel, Agricultural expansion, tobacco curing and illegal logging. |
