| 要旨本文 | Accurate forest carbon stock estimation is essential for sustainable forest management and climate change mitigation. This study proposes a stepwise multi-scale LiDAR framework to estimate tree- and stand-level carbon stocks in conifer plantations at the University of Tokyo Hokkaido Forest, integrating field measurements, backpack LiDAR, and UAV LiDAR. Field surveys covered only a small set of reference trees, while backpack LiDAR efficiently derived tree-level DBH. Backpack-derived DBH was used as the response variable in a random forest model trained with UAV LiDAR height and crown metrics, enabling DBH transfer to UAV LiDAR data with spatially continuous coverage and reducing the need for extensive field-based DBH measurements. Accuracy was assessed against field-measured DBH, and carbon estimates were validated at tree and plot levels. Results showed moderate DBH prediction and reasonable stand-scale carbon estimation, but limited individual-tree performance |
