| 要旨本文 | Understanding plantation tree water demand is critical under increasing water stress. In this study, we compared the water use of four widely planted species in tropical Southeast Asia that are considered to have high water demand: Neolamarckia cadamba, Neolamarckia macrophylla, Eucalyptus pellita, and Elaeis guineensis. The experiment was conducted using mini sealed weighing lysimeters planted with seedlings. For each species, six seedlings aged six to eight months were used. Each seedling was irrigated with a known volume of water, and subsequent reductions in mass (water loss through transpiration) were measured. The mass of abscised leaves was accounted for in the calculations. Meteorological variables were recorded using a nearby weather station. The results showed no statistically significant differences in transpiration among the four species. Transpiration was positively correlated with solar irradiance, although the relationship was weak. |
