| 要旨本文 | Subalpine forests of Japan and Korea are physiognomically and floristically similar sharing many of the same or closely related species including keystone conifers, Abies koreana in Korea and A. veitchii in Japan. Despite geographic isolation of over 400 km, recent studies using Sanger sequencing (Kwak et al. 2024) and whole chloroplast genome sequencing (Worth et al. 2024) unexpectedly observed an A. koreana-type chloroplast lineage in the southern range of A. veitchii. In this study, 12 phylogenetically informative regions of the chloroplast identified in Worth et al. (2024) are used to clarify the range-wide phylogeographic structure of both A. koreana and A. veitchii and determine the distribution of the A. koreana-type chloroplast lineage in Japan and its implications for understanding the evolution and past gene flow dynamics of these two important northeast Asian subalpine conifers. |
