| 要旨本文 | Previous research indicates that trees in uneven-aged forests are more likely to resist wind than those in even-aged forests. However, why and how trees have higher or lower resistance across the different forest types remains unknown. In this research, we built research plots to observe tree swaying and local wind climate in both even- and uneven-aged stands in Pahernik Forest, northern Slovenia, in 2024. The Pahernik Forest Foundation has managed the forests using a freestyle silviculture system, allowing us to compare the mechanical properties between the two forest types. We selected 20 trees, both in even-aged and uneven-aged forests, and then installed stainless steel transducers with four strain gauges on the tree stem at 65cm from the ground. In September 2025, we conducted the pulling tests, manually pulling the trees upward, downward, and across-slope directions. We will report on how the trees mechanically responded to pulling force and winds in the forests. |
