要旨本文 | Ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungi are essential symbionts for many Betulaceae species, aiding nutrient acquisition and stress tolerance. This study examined ECM fungal communities associated with Betula ermanii using DNA metabarcoding and ECM colonization bioassay. Soil and root samples from five provenance trials revealed site-specific fungal richness, community composition and structure while the seed source population only significantly influenced root fungal community structure. The warmest site, Tano (Miyazaki), exhibited the highest fungal richness. The bioassay, conducted by inoculating sterilized seedlings in soils collected from three provenance trials, demonstrated high colonization rates (up to 95% at coolest site, Nayoro, Hokkaido) but fewer ECM fungal species at Nayoro compared to warmer sites. These findings emphasize the ecological significance of ECM fungi in B. ermanii and inform strategies to conserve B. ermanii under climate change. |
