| 要旨本文 | Forested ecosystems play a crucial role in regulating nutrient dynamics and maintaining water quality within watersheds. On Kyushu Main Island, Japan, diverse geographical features and environmental factors, including precipitation, nitrogen deposition, and land-use practices, influence stream nitrate (NO₃⁻) concentrations. To investigate NO₃⁻ dynamics and environmental drivers in mountain stream NO₃⁻ concentrations, 869 water samples were collected under base flow conditions from undisturbed forested watersheds in Kyushu Main Island, including Miyazaki, Kagoshima, Kumamoto, Nagasaki, Saga, Fukuoka and Oita prefectures during 2016-2017. The mean of stream NO₃⁻ concentrations was 0.43 mg N L-1 (SD ± 0.44) and the concentrations varied from values below the detection limit (0.02 mg N L-1) to 4.19 mg N L-1. The key environmental factors influencing stream NO₃⁻ concentrations will be discussed by using random forest regression model. |
