要旨本文 This study delves into the role of seed dispersal models in ecosystem conservation, focusing on a 20*20 km area around a temperate old-growth forest, Japan. Investigating 17 tree species with distinct dispersal methods. We hypothesized that random variation in seed dispersal (i.e., stochastic process) as well as variation mediated by distance (i.e., deterministic process) would optimize landscape utilization more effectively than deterministic seed dispersal processes. Simulations revealed that stochastic processes optimized landscape utilization for most species, highlighting their potential in understanding temperate forest dynamics. The study advocates for stochastic simulations as crucial for detecting dispersal constraints amid climate change and biodiversity loss. This shift underscores the importance of such models in predicting future ecosystem fates and emphasizes the reliability of stochastic simulations in analyzing seed dispersal patterns in temperate forests.
